WHAT is HypnoTherapy?

If you feel stuck in a state of mind that is holding you back, in whatever arena of life you care to consider, then it’s possible that HypnoTherapy will be the solution you need.

Not to be confused with Stage Hypnosis – this is a healing modality with a long history, backed by decades of scientific research. Indeed, according to The American Journal of Medicine, “if hypnosis were a drug, it would be a standard of care.”

This state is similar to being completely absorbed in a book, movie, music, or even one's own thoughts. In it, a person is unusually responsive to an idea or image with a positive intention in mind, but they are not under anyone’s “control.” Instead, Michael can help clients in this state relax and turn their attention inward to discover and use resources within themselves that can help them achieve the change they seek or better manage pain or other physical concerns.

The aim is that Michael’s client learns how to address their states of awareness on their own and in doing so, gain greater control of their physical and psychological responses.

What HypnoTherapy is NOT...

Many people are suspicious or dismiss this form of treatment based on the concern that they will lose control – thank you stage and TV hypnotists – but in actual fact, the purpose behind hypnotherapy is to help you regain control in an area of your life you feel could be improved upon.

You will be in control at all times, and able to leave this relaxed state whenever you want – it’s worth adding here that many people say they feel so calm and relaxed they would quite like to stay there.

You cannot be induced to act in a way that is out-with your own beliefs and values.

(You will not be persuaded to eat an onion while believing it is an apple. Nor will we have you clucking and pecking at the air like a chicken.)

Michael will help you reach a deep state of relaxation during which your brain is more able to take up positive suggestions aimed at improving your issue.

What is HypnoTherapy used for?

Hypnotherapy can have many applications as a part of treatment for anxiety, stress, panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder, phobias, substance abuse including tobacco, sexual dysfunction, undesirable compulsive behaviours, mood disorders, and bad habits. It can be used to help improve sleep or to address learning disorders, communication issues, and relationship challenges.

Hypnotherapy can aid in pain management and help to resolve medical concerns such as digestive disorders, skin conditions, symptoms of autoimmune disorders, and the gastrointestinal side effects of pregnancy or chemotherapy. Research has found that surgical patients and burn victims can achieve reduced recovery time, anxiety, and pain through hypnotherapy. It can also be used by dentists to help patients control their fears before procedures or to treat teeth grinding and other oral conditions.

HypnoTherapy FAQs

£60 per session

Our first session will last up to 90 minutes while we get to know each other.

Subsequent sessions will last around an hour.

That is difficult to say. We are all unique individuals with different needs. Also, it is fair to say that Hypnotherapy does not always achieve instant results - and sometimes several sessions are needed before the desired changes happen.

We understand that the best laid plans often go awry and for that reason we ask that should you need to re-schedule your appointment you provide us with a minimum of 48 hours` notice.

In the event of a no show without good reason (emergencies being exempt), we reserve the right to charge you a fee of £60 which covers a 1 hour session.

As you can no doubt appreciate, missed appointments cost us time and money, and prevent us from seeing other clients.

We understand that for many people this form of therapy comes with a lot of baggage - thank you, stage hypnotists - but be assured that the sole aim of this modality is to provide therapy.

If you are unsure, or even curious as to how this form of therapy might help you, please phone or email for a free no-obligation chat and we will answer any questions you may have.

Bear in mind we are busy and are not always able to answer immediately - if that is the case please leave a message with a return number and suggested best times for us to call you back - and we aim to do so within 48 hours.
